Purchasing tickets

Tickets for shows at the National Theatre can be purchased from our website, or by email:

Tickets prices are stated on the show’s pages. Prices vary according to stage, and to where you wish to be seated. The National Theatre also offers a number of discount schemes.

When is the box office open?

Monday-Friday 12.00-18.30

Saturday 12.00-17.00

Additionally, the theatre is open every evening of a show, and the box office sells tickets for the evening’s show right up until the show starts.

Can I reserve tickets?

Yes, you can! Reserve tickets by phone, email or by showing up at the box office. Tickets can be reserved for a maximum of three working days.

Can I show my tickets on my phone, or do I have to print them out or pick them up at the box office?

Showing them on your phone is fine. Save a tree – avoid a print-out.

How early do I have to pick up my tickets before showtime?

If you have reserved your tickets, and received a collection deadline upon making your reservation, then the tickets must be collected before that time. If you have paid for your tickets already, you can pick them up at any point before showtime. Still, we recommend that you collect your tickets no later than 20 minutes before showtime, so that you can avoid queueing and have an even more pleasant experience.

Can I collect my tickets at the Torshov Theatre?

Yes, you can collect tickets for Torshov Theatre shows at the box office there. This box office opens 90 minutes before showtime and is only open on evenings when there is a show.

Can I swap tickets I have purchased?

Yes, but the swap has to take place no later than two working days before the day of the show, in return for a 50 kr transaction fee. Purchased tickets are only refunded in the event of cancellations, or changes made by the National Theatre.

Is there an age limit to your shows?

We have no age limits to our shows, but we sometimes make age recommendations. Any such recommendation is stated on the show’s page. If in doubt, please ask at the box office.

I can’t find the tickets I have booked. What do I do?

Log on to “my page” and find your purchases under “my bookings”. If they do not show up there, please contact the box office, either by email:, or by telephone: 22 00 14 00. If your tickets have been bought and paid for, they will be in our system.

If tonight’s show is sold out, do I just give up?

No, you must never give up! Uncollected tickets go on sale pprox.. 30 minutes before showtime. There are often uncollected tickets available right up until showtime. Get in touch with our ticket office to hear about your chances of securing uncollected tickets to the show you want to see.
